Who We Are…
H.A.N.D.D.S. to the Rescue (Helping Abused, Neglected, Disabled, Displaced Souls) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are a volunteer-based rescue for dogs (We do not take in cats) that are in danger of euthanasia.
We do not have a shelter. All of our dogs are placed in experienced foster homes where they receive love and care until they find that special home to call their own.
Prior to adoption, all dogs receive necessary medical treatment and vaccines. They are heartworm tested and placed on preventative medicine, de-wormed, and treated for fleas. All dogs are also spayed or neutered before adoption.
Our Dogs…
Most of our rescued dogs come from local Animal Controls and shelters in the Northern Michigan area. Some of the dogs we rescue come to us with medical problems, broken bones, or are taken out of abusive and/or neglectful situations. They are then placed into a volunteer foster home that has opened their heart to give these precious dogs a second chance at life. We rehabilitate and nurture these dogs back to health. Many of our dogs were just minutes away from euthanasia.
